How to Pop Out the Lenses for Wayfarer Glasses

Since 1952, manufacturer Ray-Ban has produced the Wayfarer line of sunglasses. Along with Ray-Ban's Aviator, Wayfarers are among the best selling sunglass designs. Upon their debut, Wayfarers were seen as a tremendous change from metal glasses by using plastic frames in the design. As with other eyewear designs, it is possible to pop out Wayfarer lenses and replace them with either new sunglass lenses, or place prescription lenses in the frames. In the case of prescriptions, it's best to have the lenses replaced professionally.

Instructions

Open the sunglasses with the earpieces facing away. Firmly, but gently, grasp the frame with both hands.

Place both thumbs at the upper ends of one frame. Keep the earpiece on that side and the bridge straight and supported.

Press both thumbs into the lens while keeping the frames steady. It takes some effort to press the lens out, but be careful and controlled. Do not to apply so much force that the frames are damaged. Focus on the very ends of the lens and keep pressing until the lens pops out on either side.

Repeat for the other lens. Remember to be careful with the earpiece and the bridge.
