Decide what type of material is best for your stockings. Options include nylon, jersey, cotton and fishnet. This is going to be greatly determined by whether you want opaque or see-through stockings.
2Choose a style that says something about you. Do you want people to see you as professional or sexy or edgy? A sheer set of stockings with a back seam says sexy whereas a thick black pair is more on the edgy side.
3Build an outfit around the stockings that goes with your selection. A business outfit sends a professional message. A goth look is more suitable to the edgy style.
4Finish off the outfit with the right type of shoes. Open-toed shoes will reveal a lot of the foot of the stocking and may not be appealing to some people. Sneakers typically only look right with opaque cotton stockings.
