Women who don't want to lose their pierced earrings often choose leverback earrings. This style features a clasp behind the ear that snaps securely into a hook, enclosing the whole earring so it won't slip out of the ear. As long as the clasp stays closed, the earring works much like an enclosed hoop earring, except a leverback is not usually round and has a stronger enclosure. Leverback earrings come in a variety of fashionable styles, in either plain metal or with hanging baubles and gems. When a leverback earring breaks, it is possible to repair it at home.

Troubleshoot the problem. Examine the earring carefully with a magnifying glass. Figure out what the broken part is supposed to do. Open and close the working leverback earring to see exactly how it works.
2Bend the broken part back into shape with a needle-nosed pliers. If this doesn't work, scavenge parts from your other jewelry, or purchase broken parts at a crafts store or from online suppliers in a matching color and metal.
3Use needle-nosed pliers or tweezers to gently nudge the clasp into place.
4Buff the earring to remove any scratches or marks.
