The Best Way to Take Out Pierced Earrings

The tradition of ear piercing dates back to ancient times. Earrings add a sense of personal style and can accentuate your overall appearance. An important element of wearing earrings is caring for your ears and for your jewelry. The manner in which you remove your earrings factors into this process of keeping your skin healthy and your jewelry in good condition.

Instructions

Loosen the back of your earring, if necessary. Many types of earrings have a clasp that slips onto a post. Squeeze both sides of the clasp and slide it off the post.

Slip the earring out of your earlobe gently. If there is a curve in the section that goes through your earlobe, back it out of your ear slowly, following the contour of the metal.

Reattach the clasp (if the earring has one) once you've removed the earring from your ear.

Moisten a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and use it to wipe off the front and back of your earlobe. Wipe off your earring post as well.

Store your earrings in a clean, dry environment.
