Ways to Fold a Bandanna for the Back Pocket

Use a combination of beginning origami techniques to turn your bandanna into a fun, fashionable shape that accentuates your outfit and flatters your back pocket. By creasing the material prior to folding it, you create sections that make the bandanna more pliable. This technique helps you create organized folds and a symmetrical shape. To set more intricate, complicated shapes, use your iron on a low setting to set each fold.

Heart

A stylish way to accent a black and white outfit is with red accessories. Accomplish this by folding a red and white bandanna in the shape of a heart; however, you will also need a hot iron to hold and set the shape. Place the bandanna in front of you so it resembles a diamond. Take the top point and fold the bandanna in half to meet the bottom point. Unfold the bandanna to its original shape. Fold the top point of the diamond down to meet the center of the bandanna. Take the bottom point and fold it up. The points will now be touching the middle of the crease where you made your last fold. Fold in the left side to meet with the center crease. Do the same with the right side. Fold in the small points on the left- and right-hand sides of the heart. Fold in the top points of the heart.

Triangle

A triangular shape is a simple and effective way to add a geometric style and dash of color to an outfit. Jazz up a rather baron back jean pocket by wearing a lighter-colored bandanna that complements the colors within your outfit. To create this shape, take one of the bottom corners of the bandanna and fold it up toward the opposite corner at the top. This forms a large triangle. To make a smaller triangle, fold it in half again by taking the right corner and folding it over the left corner.

Diamond or Square

A square adds a more simple, streamlined shape, while a diamond adds an angular shape. The only difference between the diamond and the square is how you place it inside the back pocket. To make this design, take the bandanna and fold the top and bottom corners together so both sides form a line down the middle. Take the bottom corner and fold it in toward the left to meet the top corner of the triangle. Take the other corner and fold it inward to meet the top corner of the triangle. Insert the bandanna horizontally into the back pocket to make the square shape. To display the diamond shape, slightly turn the square until one of the points is pointed at you.

Flower

Most flowers are known for their aromatic scents and breathtaking beauty. One way to implement flowers into your outfit is to create your own origami sunflower to stick in your back pocket. To make this flower, take a bandanna in the color of your choice. Place the bandanna flat to forms the shape of a square. Fold it in half vertically, unfold it, and then fold it again horizontally. Unfold it once more. After folding the bandanna vertically and horizontally, you will notice this folding technique produces four smaller squares. Take each corner of the square and fold them in toward the center. Fold each point in the middle of the square back. This folding technique creates four small triangles with tips that overlap the top part of the square. Flip the bandanna over and display your sunflower.
