How to Tie Long Women&#39;s Scarves

The long flowing fabric of a scarf is a chic final touch to any woman's outfit. This often overlooked accessory can add color, texture or pattern to both business and casual outfits. With many ways to tie long women's scarves, this versatile accessory can be worn around the neck, the waist or over the head. Available in sheer summer fabrics such as silk and rayon or thick comforting wools, scarves are perfect for all seasons. Tying on a long scarf takes less than minute and adds character to a simple blouse or casual skirt.

Instructions

Dress up a solid cotton button-up blouse with a long patterned silk scarf. Find the center of the scarf and place it against the front of your neck. Toss the two tail ends of the scarf over each shoulder. Cross the pieces of fabric behind the back of the neck, then wrap the fabric around to the front. Finish the look by tying a loose knot at the front of your neck, to one side. Allow the lightweight silk fabric to cascade down the front of your blouse, adding pattern and texture to the simple outfit.

Tie a wool scarf over an oversized winter sweater. Place the scarf around your neck, allowing the two tail ends to flow down the front of the sweater. Pull the ends so the tails of the scarf are an even length, then loop one tail over the other, forming a low loose knot just above the waist of your pants.

Place a sheer rayon or cotton scarf on a table. Fold it lengthwise until it is a narrow band, approximately two inches wide. Place the center of the scarf on the top center of your head. Pull the two tail end down to the side, so they sit behind your ears. Reach behind your neck and secure the long scarf with a simple knot. Allow the long tails to flow down your back. Choose a scarf that coordinates with one of the colors in your outfit or choose a neutral shade that complements your hair color.

Wrap a long sheer scarf around your hips. Let the fabric hang loose and drop down at an angle over one of the hips. Wrap the fabric around twice for extra long scarves. Secure the scarf with a loose knot next to the hip bone. Allow the tails of the scarf to hang loose at your side. Make a bold statement by using a patterned scarf as a belt to break up the monotones of a solid black or white outfit.
