In the fall of 2008, creatively tying winter scarves was trendy. Scarves were tied, wrapped and draped in several different ways. Some of the most common scarf trends in 2008 were the versatile pashmina scarf, which could double as a wrap; the square scarf, which could be draped loosely around the neck and often had decorative frays or fringe; and the long scarf, which was looped at the front of the neck and draped down at chest level.
Instructions
Tying the Pashmina Scarf
- 1
Loosely fold the pashmina scarf in half to reduce the width.
2Holding one end with one hand and one end with the other, line the scarf up evenly at the back of your neck.
3Loosely loop the scarf around your neck once or twice.
Draping the Pashmina Scarf
- 4
Drape the unfolded scarf around your shoulders.
5Pull the right end of the scarf around you to the left shoulder. Drape this end over your left shoulder.
6Pull the left end of the scarf around you to the right side and drape this end over your right shoulder.
Tying the Square Scarf
- 7
Fold the square scarf diagonally to form a triangle.
8Tie the scarf at the back of your neck so that the triangle point is directly at the front.
9Scrunch and pull at the folds of the scarf so that it is full and looks slightly messy.
Tying the Long Scarf
- 10
Fold the scarf in half. Hold it so that you have the ends in one hand and a folded end in the other hand.
11Center the scarf at the back of your neck.
12Pull the loose ends through the loop made from the folded end against your neck. Pull on the ends to cinch up the scarf to your liking.
