How to Tie a Sash Around Your Neck

A sash is a rectangular length of cloth that may be used as a belt or around the neck as a scarf. The modern woman has taken the sash to new accessory heights with designer sashes that can be worn in a variety of ways and come in an assortment of colors and lengths. The sash has a variety of uses for those who are creative, however, the intended purpose of a sash is to cinch or hold closed a robe or flowing gown.

Instructions

Lay the sash flat. Pick it up in the middle and place it around your neck so the loose ends dangle in front.

Throw one end or both ends of the sash over your shoulder, allowing the ends to hang down in back.

Wrap the ends of the sash behind your neck as many times as you like or as the sash length allows. Let the ends hang down in front or tie the ends at the front of your neck.

Tie a loose knot in the middle of the sash and place the knot at the front of your neck. Wrap the ends of the sash around your neck, and bring the ends back through knot. Loosely cinch.

Place the sash around your neck and wrap the ends flat around each other, like a tie at the neck, so one flap hangs directly over the other. The sash should be wrinkle-free and have some sizing on the fabric so that it will lay flat.
