How to Replace the Batteries in a Pulsar 2900

The Pulsar 2900 is a classic watch from 1972. This chain watch has a digital face and stainless steel band, and is water resistant up to 30 feet. The Pulsar watch's batteries should be changed every four to five years, especially to prevent battery leakage. Changing the batteries yourself is a simple process when using the proper tools.

Instructions

Insert a case blade -- a special blade that opens the casing on a watch and available at jewelry stores -- between the case and case back. Rotate the case back counterclockwise with a rubber jar opener until the back is free from the case.

Use needle-nose pliers to rotate the case back counterclockwise if it still does not free itself. A rubber gasket will pop out with the case back.

Look for two batteries inside that look like small discs mounted by a spring or flat strap, according to the Watch-Batteries website. Use a toothpick to lift up the batteries one by one and remove them with tweezers. If a strap holds the battery, use a screwdriver to loosen it.

Take the batteries to a jeweler, who will provide you with the proper replacement batteries for your watch. Insert the new batteries with tweezers and tighten the screw or strap holder.

Place the rubber gasket into the rim of the watch and make sure it flushes against the rim. Snap the case back into place or tighten the screws, if necessary.
