Bandanas are a staple of traditional western cowboy style. They are worn by men, women and pets alike and are fashioned into clothing and other accessories. Traditionally, they are worn on the head during hunting for camouflage or around the neck. Bandanas come in many patterns and some sellers offer custom designs.
Paisley
The traditional print on bandanas is paisley in black and white, although red and blue are very popular. The paisley design has curved tear-drop shapes that are fluidly connected using dots and lines. Paisley bandanas come in almost every color, usually with a single colored background and a black or a black and white print.
Cowboy
The cowboy bandana print pays homage to the traditional use of bandanas. Cowboy prints often depict horses trying to buck cowboys off or cowboys swinging a lasso. They generally stick to black, white, red and blue, but can come in many different colors.
Camouflage
Bandanas printed with the traditional camouflage design remind wearers of the original hunting use. The camouflage is normally in greens, browns, blacks and tans, but can come in many colors, including pink.
Flag
Flag printed bandanas are a popular option. The are most often printed with the American flag, called "Old Glory" or the Texas flag. Rebel flag bandanas are also popular, commenting a bit on Cowboy history. Prints are also available with flags from countries other than the United States.
Sports
Many sports teams produce bandanas with their personal designs and logos. People wear these bandanas to show support for their team and games and other functions. Sports themed bandanas are also often signed and framed to commemorate specific games or players.
Custom
Many companies sell custom designed bandanas. Some come with a traditional paisley border with an area in the center for words or pictures. Some also allow for a completely custom design for art or advertising.
