How to Tie a Silk Wrap

A silk wrap or scarf is a useful accessory that will work as a way to keep warm during cool weather as well as a way to add color and pop to any outfit. There are many ways to tie a wrap so that it can warm the neck and back while looking stylish.

Silk wraps, very popular in the 1980s, are once again popular in the 21st century. Since there are so many ways to tie a silk wrap there are countless ways to dress up any outfit.

Instructions

Fold the wrap in half so it forms a triangle. Line up all the edges so that the printed side is facing up and none of the inside facing shows under the wrap.

Make a 1/2-inch-thick fold toward the triangle edge of the wrap. Continue to fold the wrap down until about a third of the scarf hangs below the folded edge.

Wrap the wrap around your shoulders with the triangle part facing toward your back. Tie a simple knot in the front of the scarf to hold the scarf on your shoulders.

Fold the wrap in half lengthwise. Fold the scarf in thirds again lengthwise, hiding the edges of the scarf. Make sure the printed side of the scarf faces up.

Wrap the scarf around your neck placing the loose ends down your back. Wrap the loose ends around your neck until they face back toward the front.

Cross the ends of the scarf over each other and pull one side through as if you are starting a bow. Arrange the edges of the scarf so that they lay smoothly over each other without constricting your neck.

Fold the scarf into thirds with the printed side facing out and the edges hidden in the folds.

Fold the scarf in half so the ends hang down at the same level. Take the halved scarf and wrap it around your neck.

Take the free ends of the scarf and pass them through the looped side of the scarf. Tighten the ends slightly to wrap the scarf around your neck.

Fold the wrap into thirds with the printed side of the wrap facing outward.

Cross the edges of the scarf just as if you are tying your shoes.

Continue to tie a bow just like for shoelaces. Fluff the ends of the bow out so that the wrap flows gently around the neck.
