How to Wrap a Choli

In India, and in other parts of the world, women accessorize their outfits with cholis. A choli is an Indian scarf that can be wrapped or worn a number of ways. A choli is made from a number of fabrics including silk, satin, crepe and georgette. Cholis are worn casually and for more formal occasions like weddings and parties. It is typically worn just as an accessory, but can have practical uses as well.

Instructions

Drape the choli on the left or right shoulder. The choli can be worn to dangle from the shoulder.

Place the middle of the choli on the right or left shoulder, so an even amount of choli is hanging in the front and rear of your body. Pull the front and back sides of the choli around to the opposite hip and secure them together with a pin.

Turn your arms over so your palms are facing up. Place one end of the choli over one of your inner-forearms, pull the rest of the choli around your back and dangle an even amount of fabric over your other forearm. The rear of the choli should not hit the ground.

Place the choli over the top of your head. Wrap the ends of the choli around your neck and shoulders. Worn this way, the choli will help shield the head from rain or cool weather.
