How to Size a Citizen Watch Band

For whatever variety of Citizen watch you purchase, the standard band length will most likely require some adjusting before it is the perfect fit. If you have the most common form of Citizen watch band, a linked watch, you will be resizing by removing or adding links from the watch. With the right tools, or the right professional help, you can have a comfortable and well fitting watch.

Instructions

Visit a watch retailer and request a fitting. Before trying to shorten your watch at home, consider that most jewelers will size your watch for little cost. If you return to the vendor who sold you your watch, the chances are that he will size it for you for free.

Shorten the band. Use a pin pusher (paperclip or other similarly sized object), to remove links by pressing on the small pins holding the links in place until the watch band separates and the pin is free. To shorten, remove links in this method one at a time; place the pin and links in a safe place so as not to lose them.

Add length. Purchase additional links from your local watch dealer or Citizen company. To add links, open the watch band as detailed in Step 2. Using your pin pusher and your fingers, fit an additional link into the end link on the open band and join them with a pin(s). Repeat this step to add links, until desired length is achieved.

Reattach your watch band by fitting the two end links into each other, and reinserting a pin(s) to join them. Use your pin pusher or your fingers. Store extra links and pins safely in case of future adjustments.

Consult your retailer to arrange for a professional sizing if your Citizen watch uses a strap with holes, flexible bands or a more complex pin system.
