How to Tie a Sweater Belt

Belts can add a little extra something to your look, whether texture, color or a flattering dip at the waistline. Sweater belts most often come with sweater sets, but can be worn with different styles of clothing to change their appearance. These types of belts do not usually have buckles, but rather need to be wrapped around the waist and tied. Learn a few tricks for tying your sweater belt properly and you can add the look to many different pieces in your wardrobe.

Instructions

Wrap the sweater belt around your waist at the most flattering spot. This depends on your body shape, what you are wearing and the width of the belt. Experiment with placing it at your natural waist, wrapped a bit higher than your natural waist or around your hips.

Tie the belt into a double knot with the ends hanging loose. Bring the ends to the side of your body or to the back of your outfit.

Add a bow to the back of the belt by looping and tying the ends, leaving a bow shape. This works well on dresses or sweaters.

Wrap the ends of the sweater belt under the rest of the belt for a smoother look that does not have ends hanging down. Simply tuck the ends under the rest of the belt.

Wear your sweater belt with dresses, long sweaters, slacks and skirts. Use it in a similar way that you would a scarf belt.
