But as with other high-end fashion lines, imitation Chanel glasses have infiltrated the market with retailers looking to cash in on their popularity. Examine the outside of the glasses' left lens. Authentic Chanel glasses have their serial number printed vertically on the outside of the left lens. The serial number has two letters and seven numbers.
2Check to see if the glasses come with a certificate of authenticity and a warranty. Imitation Chanel glasses will not have a Chanel warranty although they may have a fake certificate of authenticity.
3Examine the case. Authentic Chanel glasses come with a hard, black case that is sturdy and well-made. Fake ones usually come with a cheap, poor-quality case.
4Read the enclosed packaging to see the manufacture's name. Genuine Chanel glasses are manufactured by Luxottica Group. Fake Chanel glasses are manufactured by another company.
5Look along the top of each lens to make sure the name "Chanel" is engraved in small letters, indicating authentic glasses.
6Check the quality. If the glasses appear poorly manufactured and have shoddy workmanship, they are fake Chanel. Inspect the edges to make sure there is no glue or other cheap adhesives showing, which is a further sign of imitation glasses.
7Ask the retailer for the glasses' exact model number. If the seller is unable to provide a model number, the glasses are most likely fake. If it's an online retailer, compare the model number with glasses on the websites of legitimate Chanel retailers to see if the model and color match up.
8Check the logo on the outside: two interlocking Cs.
