How to Tie Fashion Belts

Belts are versatile accessories that never go out of style, in large part because there are always different ways to wear them. While the standard belt buckle remains a fashionable look, a belt can also be secured in a variety of ways. Without spending a lot of money, you can get creative with your belts and tie them stylishly around your waist or hips for a sassy new look.

Instructions

    1

Wrap a long, thin belt, about the size of two normal belts, around your waist and tie. This look is often paired with a loose shift dress or worn over a cardigan. Choose a belt with embellishments, such as grommets or stones, to add texture to your mid-section.

    2

Skip the traditional belt and use a long piece of fabric or a scarf to tie around your waist. Fashion is constantly evolving; getting creative by turning a non-belt into a belt is your contribution to this evolution. In addition, fabric belts are an inexpensive way to keep up with trends without breaking the bank. Wear a fabric belt with a summer dress, over a winter sweater or through the belt loops of jeans.

    3

Layer belts over each other for a fashionable look. Wide belts that are belted traditionally make a nice base for a thinner belt. Use monochromatic colors for a polished look, or get trendy with contrasting colors. Wear the layered look over a skirt and shirt combination.

    4

Wrap a standard, much-used belt around your waist; however, instead of buckling it, tie it. Look for belts that are worn and flexible. Stay away from stiff belts because the look is not flattering.

    5

Twist two thin belts together and tie them around your waist. Choose contrasting, trendy colors to give a bland outfit a blast of color. Wear two thin belts over skirts, dresses and oversized shirts.

    6

Look for belts that contain woven-in embellishments, such as shells or beads. These belts typically contain several strings to tie together to keep the belt around your waist. To secure the belt properly, these belts should be tied in a double knot with the strings hanging down the side of your waist.
