Instructions for a Knotted Fleece Scarf

Scarves can be used as a fashion accessory or for utilitarian warmth. One type of scarf that can be worn by an individual is the knotted fleece scarf. This type of scarf can be made in the comfort of your home in a variety of colors and styles to match your personality and needs. Knotted fleece scarfs can be made as a crafting project with relatively little preparation. The fabric used for this project can be purchased or recycled from clothing or blankets that are already owned by the crafter.

Instructions

    1

Measure the fabric with the measuring tape or ruler.

    2

Mark the appropriate width of the scarf with the fabric marker or pencil.

    3

Mark the appropriate length of the scarf with the fabric marker or pencil.

    4

Cut the scarf to the appropriate length and width as marked.

    5

Pin the two pieces of fabric together with the pins. Ensure that the two fabric pieces are lined up and the appropriate edges are facing toward the outside of the scarf.

    6

Decide how wide and long you wish the fringe to be. Measure fringe and mark cut lines on both ends of the scarf.

    7

Cut fringe along marked lines on both ends of the scarf.

    8

Sew the two fabric pieces together along the length of the fabric. Sewing can be accomplished with a sewing needle and thread or a threaded sewing machine. If sewing the pieces by hand, sew the pieces with the desired stitch. If a sewing machine is used, choose a stitch that is compatible with fleece according to the user's manual of the sewing machine. Sew only the section between the fringe area.

    9

    Remove pins from fabric.

    10

Knot the top and bottom piece of fringe together one cut at a time. Continue knotting until all fringe cuts are knotted together on both sides of the scarf.
