A versatile, classic Gucci canvas handbag can easily be worn with a crisp business suit or a flirty little black dress. Inspect the canvas material. Gucci only uses the highest-quality material, be it leather, silk or canvas. If the canvas feels light or cheap, the bag is probably a fake.
2Check the Gucci totes hardware, including the buckle, zippers or any trim. Gucci uses high-quality hardware that is never plated and doesnt easily scratch. The hardware also often features the word GUCCI spelled in all caps or the interlocking G logo. If the GUCCI or double G is printed on the hardware rather than engraved, the bag is an imitation.
3Look for the GUCCI on the bag. The Gucci logo always features all caps and is never misspelled. If the GUCCI features any lower case letters or is misspelled anywhere on the canvas tote, including the label, its not authentic.
4Examine the Gucci canvas totes stitching. Gucci handbags feature high-quality stitching that is always straight and never features loose threads. If you notice loose threads or jagged, uneven stitching, the bag isnt authentic.
5Check the totes dust bag and original tags, if available. Compare the GUCCI on the canvas tote and the GUCCI on the tag. They should be identical. If there is any discrepancy, the bag is a knockoff. Every newly-purchased authentic Gucci handbag comes with a dust bag. If the dust bag feels cheap or is poorly constructed, the handbag is a fake.
