How to Shorten the Fringe on an Egyptian-Style Belt

Egyptian-style belts have the allure of ancient Egyptian times. They are a fun accessory to wear for special occasions or as part of an Egyptian costume. If you have an Egyptian belt with fringe that is too long, you can fix it. Examine the belt carefully to make sure that altering it will not damage the fringe.

Instructions

Look at your belt to determine whether the beads are attached to the string on the fringe. If so, simply cut the fringe to the desired length; the beads will not fall off. If not, you will need to cut and tie the ends.

Cut the fringe to the desired length. If the beads are not attached to the string, hold the string in a position where the beads will not fall off before cutting. Cut the string to the desired length, leaving an inch or two for tying. Gently pull off the beads that are in the way of tying the string.

Tie the string in a double knot, or attempt to push it through the lowest bead on the end of the string to hide it. Trim off any string that remains at the end for a tidy look. Repeat this with the rest of the fringe, making sure to cut the strings so that they are level.
