When you see a Vera Bradley wristlet for sale at a yard sale, flea market or other venue, you need to know how to pick out a fake one. Between true counterfeits and bags that simply look like Vera Bradley bags but don't have fake tags, you may be hard-pressed to figure out if the piece you are looking at is authentic. There are a few things you can check for that will help you weed out lookalikes and fakes. Once you arm yourself with this knowledge, you can be sure that you are paying for the real thing.

Look up the bag online in the wristlet section of the Vera Bradley website. If the wristlet is fairly new, you may be able to spot a photo of it in the online catalog. If you do, compare the look and fabric of your bag to the picture to see if they match.
2Unzip the wristlet and look inside. All real Vera Bradley bags have a logo label stitched inside, regardless of the bag model. If you see the label, chances are your bag is authentic.
3Turn the wristlet inside out. Real Vera Bradley products maintain a high-quality assembly standard. If there are exposed seams, raw edges or other flaws, your bag may be a fake.
4Look at the zipper. Real Vera bags come with a zipper that is a color that complements the fabric used for the bag. The zipper will also have a matching ribbon zipper pull imprinted with the Vera Bradley signature. If the zipper is poor quality or doesn't match or if the pull ribbon is missing, the bag could be a fake.
5If the wristlet passes all of the steps above, it is likely an authentic Vera Bradley product.
