Dust the leather bag with a soft, damp cloth prior to storing it. Dry the bag thoroughly using a soft cloth.
2Apply a leather conditioner to the bag to ensure it is in perfect condition when you take it out of storage. Place a creamy leather conditioner on a soft cloth and rub it onto the leather bag; don't apply the conditioner directly to the bag. Allow the bag to air-dry.
3Empty a leather purse and fill it with plastic bubble wrap so it will retain its shape while in storage. Place a metal chain strap inside the bag so it doesn't scratch the leather.
4Place the leather bag into a protective dust bag cover designed for leather storage use. Wrap the leather purse in a soft cotton pillow case if you don't have a dust bag.
5Store the leather bag in a cool, dry location such as a closet shelf or a large drawer. Keep the bag out of direct sunlight, which can dry out and crack the leather material.
