How to Tell a Real Prada Purse From a Knock Off

Prada bags aren't cheap, and if you've found a deal that sounds too good to be true, you can be certain that it is. Bag counterfeiters may be getting better in their skill, but they are still mass producing and so can't afford to pay attention to small details even if they had access to all of the proprietary information. Authentic Prada bags are made with a lot of expert care and attention, using the highest quality of leathers and fabrics. When you finally spot one, it's more evident to see why it carries such a high price tag.

Check the logo. Prada replica bags are notorious for being misspelled, for instance reading "Prado" or "Proda." The designer also has a distinguishable font for its logo where the "A's" cross over further on the top left. All Prada bags have this same font on all of the logos.

Look for the country of origin tag. Prada bags are manufactured in Italy, and so the interior tag should read "Made in Italy." If the tag reads China or India, it isn't authentic.

Reach inside to peek at the lining. Make sure it is stitched in, not glued, and is of a high-quality fabric such as satin. Often, Prada bags have their logo printed on the lining.

Feel the material to make sure it's of a high-quality thick leather or canvas. If the bag is made of a plastic or other synthetic material, it's a knock off.

Pay attention to threading. Make sure there are no loose threads around the zipper or other seams, and that the stitching is even without missing any loops.

Ask to see the card of authenticity or have the vendor show you where the serial number is listed. This is especially important if it is being sold without the dust cover.
