Problems With a Baby-G Watch

Women's digital Baby-G watches by Casio have long been popular and trendsetting timepieces. Constructed of resin, metal and plastic, Baby-G watches are available in a wide variety of vivid colors. However, their popularity doesn't make Baby-G watches immune from technical and physical problems that can interfere with their functionality and wear.

Over time, the resin strap and body of a Baby-G watch can become discolored after being in regular contact with the wearer's skin and sweat. The resin may appear bleached or browned, and this discoloration cannot be removed. Discoloration is no cause for alarm, as the resin is safe to wear. However, due to the nature of resin, some discoloration is inevitable after wearing a Baby-G watch for a certain amount of time.

Some Baby-G watch models have plastic fasteners that let the wearer adjust the watch's size for a custom fit. Plastic fasteners, as opposed to metal fasteners, can become brittle over time and snap, preventing the watch from fastening around the wearer's wrist. Metal fasteners do not bend or break as easily, and so tend to extend the life of a wristwatch.

Due to the design of the classic Baby-G jelly watch, made with resin, the display can be too crowded for some consumers. If you seek a watch with a minimalist display that shows only essential information -- such as hour and minutes -- then a Baby-G may not be right for you. Baby-G watch displays include the date, time and brief animations that play every 30 seconds.

Baby-G watch batteries are meant to last for two years. If your Baby-G watch stops working before you have had it for two years, you may have a defective watch battery. You can attempt to change the watch battery yourself by looking up your watch model and finding out its corresponding battery model. Alternatively, taking your watch directly to a watchmaker or repair expert is quick and easy, as watchmakers are experienced with technical watch matters and will likely have the correct battery in stock and the right tools to replace an old one.
