How to Tell a Fake Juicy From a Real Juicy Purse

Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash created Juicy Couture in 1994 and concentrated on producing active wear clothing for women that was both extremely comfortable but made of high-quality materials and stylish. Nowadays, they've expanded to sleepwear, dresses, trousers, tops, swimsuits, shoes, jewelry, perfume, jackets, kids clothing and purses. Because the average price of an authentic Juicy purse averages around $200, imitators constantly produce fake bags stamped with the Juicy logo, often for sale over the Internet or at less reputable boutiques. When examining the bag in question, there are several things to look for to tell if it is authentic or not.

Open the purse and check for a pink tag that says "Juicy" on it. Turn it over. There should be a white sticker on the back of the tag that has the serial number on it. Some fakes may have this pink tag, but none of them will have a serial number.

Check the stitching on the tags and on the logo. As the supervision of quality at Juicy Couture is strict, the stitches will be fluid, straight, without any overlap stitches. If you can spot imperfections in the stitching, it's most likely a fake.

Find the fob on the zipper and check to see what side its on. Authentic purses always have the fob on the right; if the fob is on the left, it's a sure sign of a fake.

Verify that the magnetic snaps, if your purse comes with any, are hidden beneath the fabric. Some purses have zippers, others have magnetic snaps which are always concealed. Fakes rarely mimic this detail and their magnetic snaps will be visible.

Examine the rivets. Rivets are metal studs that help to fasten material. Some Juicy purses come with rivets, others don't, but purses that do have them always have lettering on them. Some fakes imitate this detail, others don't, but fake bags with lettering on the rivets usually have mismatched fonts, off-centered spacing or letters of different sizes.

Smell the leather. While fake leather can look and feel like real leather, it can't imitate the smell of real leather. A "leather" bag missing that leather smell is a sure sign of a fake.

Open up the purse and look for small lettering that says "Love P&G" or "Love G&P." This stands for "Love Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash," the creators of Juicy Couture. Sometimes this will be stitched by the inside pocket; other times it will be at the bottom of the bag. Fakes never have this detail.
