How to Tie a Bow With Lace

There's much more to bows than just using them to tie your shoelaces! Ribbon and lace can add class and finish to an outfit or decoration and the right bow adds a hint of romance. They're also very useful, especially for weddings, as like any other knot, they hold things in place. There are many different types of bows, such as floral, layered, puffy and tailored, but a well-done classic bow tied to perfection usually does the trick.

Instructions

    1

Wrap the piece of lace around the object you wish to tie it around. Ensure that both lengths are even and straight. For learning purposes, we will call the piece in your left hand "A" and the piece in your right "B."

    2

Bring A to the right side, crossing over B. Bring A under and then up behind the two crossed pieces of lace to create the first basic knot.

    3

Create a loop with B. Hold this in place with your left hand and bring A upward, over and behind the B loop.

    4

Pull A counterclockwise around and through the opening behind the fingers on your left hand. Only pull A through to halfway to create the second loop.

    5

Make sure during this that both sides of the lace stay straight and that it does not twist.

    6

Pull the bow tight and adjust it so it looks neat.
