If your Invicta watch band is loose, it's a good idea to get it tightened sooner rather than later. Taking out watch links is a small job that just might save you from losing your watch altogether. But while this task is small, it also requires great dexterity and the strength to be able to apply significant pressure with small tools. With a little practice, just about anyone can use this technique, but it will be very hard for people with weak or painful joints in their hands and fingers.
Instructions
- 1
Put the watch on and pull the slack together to determine how many links you want to remove.
2Look closely at the pins connecting each link to the one next to it. You should be able to see that the pin heads on one side of the band are slightly larger than those on the other side of the band. To push the pins out, you will need to push on the smaller head.
3Plan which link or links you want to remove. If you're removing more than one link, you'll want to remove an equal number of links from each side of the watch band. If you're removing an odd number of links, you can remove the odd link from either side.
4Place the pin tip of the Bergeron pin tool against the small head of one of the link pins you want to remove. Push toward the watch band. You will need to apply significant pressure, which makes this step sometimes difficult. Once the pin gets started, however, it becomes easier to push all the way out the other side.
5Remove all of the additional links you've chosen by repeating the method described in Step 4.
6Reassemble one side of the watch by joining the separated links of the now-shortened band and carefully sliding one of the link pins back through the holes. Make sure you put the pin in the right way, with the small head going in first, pushing toward the side of the band with the smaller pin heads.
7Push the pin all the way back into place using the Bergeron pin tool. You may hear or feel it click into place when the large pin head is sitting flush against the side of the watch band.
8Reassemble the other side of the watch band, if necessary, using the same method described in steps 6 and 7.
