How to Prevent Oily Residue on Sunglasses

Sunglasses are appropriate for sunny days, but they can also pose a problem. That oily residue on your sunglasses comes from your hair, face and hands, and it can cause or exacerbate skin breakouts. You can't completely prevent oily residue on your sunglasses, but you can control it.

Instructions

Control Oily Residue

    1

Wash your face morning and night. Use a cleanser specifically formulated for oily skin if needed.

    2

    Apply a water-based moisturizer.

    3

Add an oil-absorbing foundation powder that matches your skin tone to your morning skin care regime if your skin is very oily.

    4

Wash your hands frequently throughout the day, and avoid touching the lenses.

    5

Wear a terrycloth headband across your forehead on particularly hot days to absorb sweat and skin oils that would otherwise deposit on your glasses.

    6

Pull longer hair back to keep it away from your sunglasses and to protect them from hair oil.

Wash Sunglasses Safely

    7

Wash your sunglasses with a mild cleanser specifically formulated for glasses to remove oily residue.

    8

Rub your glasses gently with the cleanser using only your fingers. Never use terrycloth to clean your sunglasses and lenses, which can scratch easily.

    9

Dry your glasses with a microfiber cloth specifically manufactured for cleaning sunglasses.
