How to Remove Ink on a Louis Vuitton Wallet

A designer wallet is an investment that is with you for a long time. Louis Vuitton wallets are crafted from high-quality leather that lasts for years with the proper care. Leather is a natural product that must be treated a different way than you would treat synthetic materials. Stains and dirt are inevitable on any wallet, but that doesn't mean you have to live with ink stains on your investment.

Assess the treatment on the leather of the wallet. If the leather on your wallet is glossy or painted, it is easier to clean than a leather that is suede or raw. Raw leather is best left to the professionals because it is extremely delicate. Monogrammed Louis Vuitton wallets are made from leather that oxidizes with age and contact with moisture.

Apply cleaning product to a washcloth or a cotton swab, depending on the size of the stain. Do not apply the cleaning product directly to the bag, this can cause more staining. Lightly blot a small amount of cleaner on an inconspicuous part of the leather. Wipe the cleaner off, wait a few minutes, then re-examine the leather. If the cleaner has caused staining or darkening, do not use it; try another cleaner or use rubbing alcohol.

Blot and lightly rub the cleaner into the stain, wiping off the cleaner and re-applying as needed, thoroughly working the cleaner into the leather. Work slowly. When the stain is gone, allow the wallet to dry completely overnight before using it.

Protect your bag from future stains. Some people prefer to leave their leather raw, but if you would rather protect your wallet from future stains, rub it with a commercial leather protectant by buffing in the protectant using a washcloth or spraying it on according to the manufacturer's directions.
