How to Tie American Eagle Scarves

Scarves are the perfect accessory that never goes out of style. They are great for winter to keep warm and as an all-year-round embellishment to change an outfit. American Eagle Outfitters sells three types of scarves: square, long and silk. Each scarf has a certain way to style it, and there is an array of colors in solid, checked, striped and printed varieties. One of these pieces can add a fashionable look around your neck, waist and head.

Instructions

How to Tie the Square Scarf

    1

Take the square scarf and fold it in half diagonally.

    2

Hold the scarf by the corners so the crease is facing you. Tie the scarf around your neck with the two ends and the creased section closest to your neck.

    3

Take the two corners folded around your neck and gently wrap them around the rest of the scarf---the section that is on your shoulder blades.

    4

Adjust the scarf pieces by lifting one layer to make it shorter or longer. The square scarf, since folded, will appear like a triangle on your neck. Pull the scarf at your neck to make it appear "messy."

How to Tie the Long Scarf

    5

Take the long scarf and fold it in half widthwise.

    6

Wrap the folded scarf around the back of your neck. Your hands should have both ends.

    7

Pull the end of the scarf that is open (not the folded side) around the front of your neck, and then pull it through the hole that was created by folding the scarf widthwise.

    8

Move the knotted section of the scarf to the front of your neck, and let the loose ends fall down your torso.

How to Tie the Silk Scarf

    9

Take the scarf around the back of your neck so the open ends are in the front.

    10

Tie the loose ends in front of your neck into a loose knot about an inch or two away from your neck.

    11

Double-knot the ends of the scarf together, but loosely, so it can be taken off without hassle.

Using Scarves as Headbands

    12

Take a square or silk scarf and keep folding it lengthwise until it is about 2 to 3 inches wide.

    13

Place the scarf across your hairline longways.

    14

Place your hands behind your neck to grab the loose ends of the scarf, and tie it into a knot.

Using Scarves as Belts

    15

Take your long scarf and tie it around your waist.

    16

Pull the scarf tightly around your waist to enhance an hourglass shape.

    17

Knot the scarf, then double-knot if necessary.
