The Nojo baby sling was created by Dr. Sears, an expert in child health and a major proponent of attachment parenting. One of the principles of attachment parenting is that being close to your baby at all times, specifically by "wearing" her in a sling or other carrier, will be beneficial to your baby. The Nojo sling acts as a second set of arms for a busy parent, enabling you to do chores, walk, or use your arms in other ways while still remaining close to your baby.

Instructions

Basic Wearing Directions

    1

Fold the sling in half. Shift the sling so that the shoulder pad is on top.

    2

Put the loop on your dominant shoulder with the rim facing your dominant arm.

    3

With your less dominant hand, hold onto the shoulder strap and pull it over your head to rest on your less dominant shoulder.

    4

Adjust the sling so that it hangs comfortably from your shoulder. Check for twisted areas and kinks in the sling and fix them.

Carrying a Newborn

    5

Hold your baby in your dominant hand, supporting the head carefully.

    6

With your less dominant hand, pull the rim of the sling outward.

    7

Slowly lower your baby into the sling, bottom first.

    8

Adjust your baby in the sling so that both of you are comfortable.

Carrying an Older Baby

    9

Hold your baby in your dominant arm, facing outward.

    10

With your less dominant hand, pull the rim of the sling outward.

    11

Fold your baby's legs up and lean back slightly. Slide the baby into the pocket of the sling, bottom first.

    12

Allow your baby to move around a bit before you begin to walk. This will give your baby the chance to get comfortable in this position.

Wearing a Baby on Your Hip

    13

Hold your baby in your dominant hand, facing you.

    14

Pull the inner rim of the sling outward and slide your baby into the sling. Your baby's legs should be straddling you, one in front of you, and one behind your back.

    15

Adjust the sling until your baby is seated on your hip. Make sure that the outer layer of sling is wrapped around your baby's back for support.
