How to Paint Barrettes

You can customize a plain metal or plastic barrette to complement your outfit and personal style. You can create a one-of-a-kind look without spending a lot of money. Being the trend setter is always fun. Try this project at a slumber party if you need a fun activity to keep everyone busy.

Instructions

Lay your paper towel down on a flat surface. Grab some nail polishes in any color or colors you wish. Play around and imagine what you want your barrette to look like.

Close the barrette clasp and set it upright with the show side facing you. Shake up your first nail polish color. You will be applying the nail polish to the barrette.

Carefully dip the brush into your first color and run the brush on the side of the bottle to eliminate drips. Paint your first coat onto the top of the barrette. Let the coat dry, then apply another one.

Use a detail nail polish to paint on little designs, like hearts or tiny flowers. You can apply a glitter polish instead if you wish to give your barrette some sparkle. Get as creative as you want and use any colors. Use a detail paint brush and dip it into a drop of nail color if you do not have the polish that comes with a detail brush.
